MMO Coated Titanium Anodes
BSS Technologies manufactures & supplies Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) Titanium Anodes and Conductor Bars engineered for impressed current cathodic protection across soils, seawater, brackish water, deep wells, and reinforced concrete structures.

Dimensionally Stable MMO Titanium Anodes
High-capacity infrastructure, underground storage tanks, deep well beds, and marine structures demand dimensionally stable impressed current anodes. BSS Technologies manufactures and assembles advanced Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) titanium anodes at our manufacturing facility. Utilizing electrocatalytic precious metal oxide coatings over Grade 1 titanium, our anodes deliver stable current discharge for design lives exceeding 30 years.
What Are MMO Titanium Anodes?
MMO coated titanium anodes are dimensionally stable ICCP anodes made from Grade 1 or Grade 2 titanium with a thin mixed metal oxide coating. The coating provides the required electrochemical activity while the titanium substrate provides a stable, corrosion-resistant base.
They are used for applications such as deep well ground beds, pipelines, storage tank bottoms, marine structures, water intakes and reinforced concrete. Depending on the environment and coating formulation, MMO titanium anodes can provide high current output with very low electrochemical consumption.

How MMO Titanium Anodes Work
An MMO titanium anode operates as a key component of an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system. It relies on an external DC power source like a Transformer Rectifier. In this setup, the anode connects to the positive terminal, while the steel structure needing protection, such as a buried pipeline or storage tank, connects to the negative terminal. As current passes from the anode through the electrolyte to the structure, it shifts the steel's electrical potential into a safe range to halt corrosion.
The mixed metal oxide (MMO) coating supports the specific anodic reaction needed for the project. Coating formulations can be tailored for oxygen evolving or chlorine evolving environments. This adaptability ensures they perform reliably across different conditions, whether installed in soil, fresh water, concrete, or the harsh seawater and brine environments common in this region.
